Barras de cereal y ajonjolí / Cereal and sesame seed bars

  • Listo! :)

This sunday the newspaper magazine had a cereal bar recipe. I thought the idea was interesting, but I didn't use it. It had lots of oil and sugar. Instead I took a bunch of ingredients and mixed them together to see what came out, and voilá! These bars came out, and they turned out to be really good. Also they're awesome for snacking.

In fact, I think coming up with what other combinations I can make will be my new hobby... Haha.

Well, here goes the ingredients. Makes 4 bars.
  • 1/4 cup Special K. Well crushed.
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon flaxseed (powdered-crushed) (this is optional)
  • 2 teaspoon honey. (liquid honey, if it's too hard put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds. careful! you could burn, it happened to me)
  • 2 bags of your desired sweetener
  • a pinch of salt
  • little bit of vanilla
  • little bit of water
Prep
  •  Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, first the dry ones and then the remaining, one by one. You should get a kind of sticky mix but not as much as to make cookie shapes. You know?
  • Put a piece of waxed paper in a mold. Now, take the mix you made and with the help of a spatula or another utensil, pour it in the mold and flatten it out until it looks uniform.
  • Bake for 25 minutes.
  • When it's ready, take the mold out. Don't try to remove it right away. It may look like it's a bit limp, but when it cools out it'll get hard. Wait until it cools, and cut the bars.
  • If you let the bars cool and they seem to be a bit limb still, put them in the oven for another 5 minutes. You could also put them in a pan and turn them over. Let them cool again.
  • Done! :)
